As His CD 'Lasers' Sits In Limbo. Lupe Fiasco Says Record Companies Don't Care About Albums Anymore "They Just Want The 3 Singles. They Don't Care About The Rest"
Audio After The Jump
Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco understand the fans frustration, he feels it too. His latest album 'Lasers' has languished in limbo at Atlantic Records with no release date in sight although it's been finished for months..
Some fans have taken it upon themselves to start a petition to force Atlantic into putting the album out...now!
"I love to see progression," he told MTV. "I love it. I love to see this petition. It brought me to tears a couple of times like, 'these n---as really f--- with me. All these kids and these fans f--- with me and it's some positive sh--. Go to Wearenotlosers.com and see what Lasers really is. ... That's what they're petitioning for. Listen to 'I'm Beamin,' the song. It reaffirms what we're doing."
He says Atlantic presented him with choices of singles for the album. He turned them all down because he was told he wouldn't have ownership of or any publishing rights to the tunes.
One of the songs turned out to be B.o.B.'s smash hit "Nothing On You" featuring Bruno Mars.
The problem as Lupe sees it is that the record companies only care about 3 great songs off the album that they can market.
"I don't think the label cares about an album," Lupe told MTV. "I don't think n---as care. People just want their number-one record. They don't care about the rest of the album. I was talking to an engineer the other day and he said, 'These n---as don't even care about mixing an album no more.' They just want the first three songs. Three singles. They get them, one, two, three, they don't care what's on the rest of the album. I know this for sure. I've seen it. You can't blame them because of the attention span of the game and the attention span of music, how fast things are going. You only got them one, two, three shots. I'm not no fool. I'm looking at it like 'Yeah, you're right."

Rick Ross first week sales
Rick Ross came into Teflon Don’s sales week with a lot of momentum. Tons of promos, tons of controversy and tons of DOPE records. But was it enough to have his 4th consecutive #1 album and beat Eminem in the process?
Rick Ross’ first week sales are…
Not enough to beat Eminem and his reign over the charts with Recovery. Eminem outsold Ross by a little over 10,000 copies…

Rumor: T.I. and Tiny to be married in Miami? Either this weekend or the next…
“…Once upon a time, the King of the South was strolling through the mall and locked eyes on with a Tiny princess who’s Xscape was to find love. His swag was undeniable and her unconditional love was what he was seeking. He approached her with his charm and after conversation he walked away knowing that this princess would one day become his queen. His love is the sunshine that keeps me warm, she’s the rainbow after the storm. His love gave me wings and has set me free and where ever she is that’s where I want to be. He’s so understanding and it feels so good. She stood with me through troubled times as a strong woman should. He takes anything that’s wrong and makes it alright. And for the rest of your life Tameka, you can have whatever you like! Just like a page out of a fairytale this storybook romance comes true…”

Air Jordan VII (7) Retro – Olympic – ‘For The Love Of The Game’ New Images
The Air Jordan For The Love Of The Game Pack was almost draped entirely in White/University Blue until this oddball Air Jordan VII Olympic colorway’s inclusion was announced. The OG flavored shoe revives the vibe that it created with the Olympic theme but some pretty cool details are also included.
The shoe has some great gold detailing from its FTLOTG logo embroidery to the lace tips this pair is straight heat. While we are not sure about release details for these we do know that they are going to fly off of the shelves when they do drop. Via kickslab.

Christian Louboutin Sneaker Preview
Collaborations between artist and brands is a thin one and can either result in something truly amazing, or incredibly wack. With the rumor mill on high regarding Swizz Beatz and Christian Louboutin working together, you have to wonder what will be the result. Well today we got our first glance of the sneaker that will result from the collaboration and it looks solid. From the image, it looks to be made of a reptile material for the upper with white laces and a white outsole. Additionally, there is a Louboutin branding on the ankle.

Big Boi Covers Time out Mag
First of, congrats to Big Boi’s for landing at number three on the Billboard Charts. After seven days, Big Boi's solo debut Sir Lucious Left Foot The Son of Chico Dusty moved 62,000 units. He landed at number three on the Billboard Charts.
Interview with Big Boi:
How are things in Georgia?
Enjoying it, enjoying it. Just spreading word on the album, having fun, man. Glad this motherfucker is about to come out.
What was the holdup? You switched labels from Jive to Def Jam this year.
Yeah, that’s the holdup. Bullshit. Ask the bullshit-ass record label I was on.
Why is it always such an eternal wait for albums in the world of hip-hop?
My situation is that Jive Records didn’t believe in my music. [The single] “Shutterbug” has been done for almost three years now. They didn’t think…it was like, ‘I don’t hear any singles.’ These are the same guys who told me to go in and make my own version of Lil Wayne’s “Lollipop,” which, by the way, I love. But how can you tell me to go in and copy somebody else?
For them to doubt you seems rather insane. You’ve sold millions and millions of albums.
Right. Yeah, but I’m just glad to be on Def Jam with L.A. Reid. He knows what’s going on.
What label is OutKast on now, then?
OutKast is still on Jive, which is the funny thing about it. Jive Records was trying to block the songs that me and Dre [André Benjamin, a.k.a. André 3000 of OutKast] recorded for my album. They won’t let me put them on my album. How stupid is that?
You sample opera on your new song “General Patton.” Are you a fan of the opera?
You know, anything is possible. When we put the beat together, it sounded so hard. Like it needed some gladiator music. Being an MC is all about just going for the throat.
That song closes with a skit about a sex maneuver called “the David Blaine.” Which…how to put this gently…is when you’re making love to someone from behind, then have a friend take over and you run to a window and wave at your partner. Are you taking credit for this, or is this something people do?
Yeah, man! You know, man, they do it now!
You’re already working on another solo album. Why so quick?
Because I’m always working. I’m in the zone. I’m waiting on Dre to finish his [solo] record so we can jump into the OutKast album. So I’ll start recording parts of the OutKast record as well as working on my next album, which is gonna be called Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader. Yeah, you got the hot scoop here first, baby!
Speakerboxxx/The Love Below sold more than 10 million copies. Do you feel pressure to live up to that level of success?
Just as long as the people can dig, man, you know what I’m sayin’?…. You don’t gauge success by how much it sells in this day and age, because you might get 3 million downloads, so you’ll never really know the real number.
You raise pit bulls at your kennel, Pitfalls. I get a kick out of the dogs’ names. Crown Royal. Dragonfly Jones. Do you name them?
Me and my brothers. We’ve sold dogs to Jay-Z, Serena Williams, Roy Jones Jr., 50 Cent, Usher, Jermaine Dupree—everybody, man. I’m gone so much now, it’s basically my brothers running it now.
What was it about “Halle Berry” that made you name her Halle Berry?
Because her face was all pretty and her eyes were glowing, you know what I’m saying? You know, she had a really cute face.
Were you familiar with Pitchfork before you were asked to play?
Nah. When they first asked me to play it, they broke it down to me. I was like, Word, that’s dope, just to be out there with all those different genres of music and just different artists, mixing it up with different people.
How do you pull off guest verses live?
On all these songs I have some verses, so it’s still like a full song. There are so many songs that I go through within an hour, like, it’s not enough time to do all the complete records. I’m doing “B.O.B.,” “Ms. Jackson,” “So Fresh, So Clean,” maybe half of the new album.
So you perform OutKast material.
Oh, yeah. Oh, hell yeah…. They’ll throw eggs at me if I don’t!

Lil wayne to Drop ' Human Being' in September
Cortez “Tez” Bryant (right)
Lil Wayne’s Carter IV is in heavy contention with Kanye West’s Good Ass Job for most anticipated. The bad news: Weezy fans have to wait until the enigmatic rap star’s November prison release to experience the Carter series’ fourth installment. The good news: “I’m putting out a [Wayne] album called I’m Not A Human Being and I’ll probably drop it on his birthday, September 27,” says Cortez Bryant, Lil Wayne’s co-manager and Young Money CEO.
According to Bryant, the album will be an EP of all new Wayne material to serve as the Carter IV prelude. Fans are also warned not to expect any marketing and promotion bells and whistles.
“We not about to roll out no three month set up,” says Bryant. “I’m not even putting it out in stores. We just gonna put it out virally and maybe package it up for Christmas. Give ‘em a hard copy later for fan appreciation.”
For Weezy fanatics, looks like Christmas is coming early this year. —Bonsu Thompson, Vibe.com

Udonis Haslem will return to the Miami Heat
“Turned down full mid-level from Dallas and Denver. See U next season,” Miami Heat’s #40 Haslem texted.
Haslem was rumored to be a prime target of the Mavericks, Nuggets, Jazz, and Knicks along with other teams. He could have signed for $34 million over five years based on his years in the league.
Haslem will sign a four-year deal with the Heat, though the Sun-Sentinel said contract details were still being worked out late Monday afternoon.
Haslem repeatedly said he wanted to remain with the Heat. His presence, along with the new core of Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James, give the Heat a very powerful starting core to work with.
Haslem can knock down jumpers and is a solid rebounder; both things the Heat need, especially coming off the bench. The Heat are also expected to re-sign Joel Anthony, a center who is currently a restricted free agent.
The Heat also are linked to Cleveland Cavaliers free-agent center Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
